Heart Event 1

Requirements: Black heart, 10:00AM - 4:00PM at the Library.
When you enter the library, you’ll see Mary talking to herself. She won’t notice you at first, but when she does, she’ll come to greet you. She’ll thank you for coming to the library and apologize for not noticing you, explaining that she doesn’t notice things when she’s lost in thought. When given the option, ask her if you can help her with what she’s doing and her affection will raise for you. She’ll explain she’s writing a novel and then tell you to go ahead and read any book you please.

Heart Event 2

Requirements: Purple heart, Thursday, Saturday or Sunday, 10:00AM - 4:00PM at the Library.
When you walk in, Mary won’t notice you. Instead, she appears to be searching for something on the bookshelves. She finally notices you, and it startles her. Apparently she’s unaware that you saw her looking for something, so she goes ahead and asks if there’s anything that you’d like. She then realizes that you saw her searching, and goes on to tell you that she’s lost one of her books and she can’t seem to find it. When prompted, help her look for the novel. You’ll begin searching the shelves, and Mary will eventually ask you if you’ve found the book (which you haven’t). You’ll then move on to the next row of shelves, and it’s there you find her book. Mary’s very grateful and thanks you for helping.

Heart Event 3

Requirements: Blue heart, Monday, 12:00PM - 5:00PM on Mother’s Hill.
When you walk up to the summit, you’ll find Mary — and she appears to have been crying! You see her, and after realizing she’s crying, you approach her about it. She explains that she found a book while she was cleaning out the Library, and so she wanted to try it out. She’ll tell you that she’s on the summit because she wanted a good view while reading. She says that the story turned out to be wonderful, and you nod. After thanking you for being worried about her, she asks you if you ever cry while reading a book. If you tell her you do sometimes, she’ll be happy with you. She thinks that people who respond well to books are intelligent. She’ll offer to give you the book she had been reading, and you’ll refuse. She’ll assure you that it’s okay since she’s already finished it, and that she thinks you’ll like it very much. It did make her cry, after all.

Heart Event 4

Requirements: Yellow heart, Monday, 10:00AM - 1:00PM at Mary’s house.
When you enter the house, you’ll find Basil and Anna discussing Mary. Apparently, Mary’s upset for some reason and they don’t know what they should do. Suddenly, they suggest that you go up and talk to her to find out what’s bothering. They’ll say she’s on the second floor, so up you go.
When you go upstairs, Mary knows that Basil sent you up to talk with her, and explains that she’s not upset and that Basil just misunderstood her feelings. Then you two go back down the stairs to explain to her parents what’s going on. Mary does so, and both her parents are relieved. Apparently, Mary wants to write a new novel, but she doesn’t know what it should be about. Basil asks you if you have any ideas. If you say that it should be about working on the farm, they’ll all agree and say it’s a good idea. Mary then asks you if you would take the time to have her interview you about working on the farm, which you automatically agree to. The interview ends up lasting until 6:00 PM, which is longer than she expected, so she apologizes to you for taking so long. She’s very appreciative of what you’ve done and thanks you for it.
